2nd & 3rd Week Update

Much has been happening up at the cabin these past two weeks:
  • Family Work: We have been working on the mezzanine level and the mantle. We have sanded the upper side of the "groovy" floor and have put 3 layers of urethane on the top. My dad sanded and urethaned the mantle as well. It look wonderful! We have also finished putting a coat of the linseed oil on the underside of the mezzanine level and on the kitchen ceiling as well. That wood looks oh so beautiful!
  • Blue Lake Enterprises & Subs: The crew was working to get ready for the 4-way inspection which happened over a week ago. Since then they have been working from a list of things that the inspector left for them to tidy up (some electrical, HVAC and structural things). They are hoping for a re-inspection next week. They are starting to work on the exterior finish work (siding, soffit, faccia, hardi board, etc.) They have also put the missing part of the deck back on and have been getting the cabin ready for insulation and dry wall.
  • Upcoming Family Projects: Until the drywall is up we are on hold for most of the inside projects. This weekend Eric and I (and who ever else is around) will be making some final touches on the mezzanine level and then working to move around the piles of dirt that have accumulated around the cabin (from trench digging, etc.). We need to level out the ground around the cabin to ensure it slopes away.
  • Other random updates: The triangle windows and new windows for the upstairs bedroom will be ready tomorrow. They will likely be installed next week. I am looking at options and pricing on paneling for the cabin ceiling and remaining wainscoting. The cabinet guy is building our cabinets as we speak. We have ordered a fancy new front door for the cabin from Mr. Window as well.

I look forward to your questions and comments!
